Magnetix Rock!

Some of you may know I'm doing some freelance work for MegaBloks, you may or may not have heard of them, think of them as the Canadian born Lego alternative. I am specifically working on the 'Magnetix' brand of Megabloks toys, these are awesome assembly toys and action figures that uses powerful magnets. These toys are VERY fun to play with (trust me, it gets addictive!). This is an email I sent out to a select list of toy stores, gamers and other websites I found online. But I would also like to send this along to you, if for nothing more than to get you guys to check out the amazing site they setup, and perhaps get you or your little ones addicted to Magnetix!

Thanks!!

Mike Regina

Painted the Kitchen Today

We painted the kitchen today, it was a nice chiprock beige for a few months after we removed the farmer-happy wallpaper. When we moved in there was some nasty wallpaper that we *knew* we had to get rid of. We finally chose a green we liked and painted this weekend. Take a look at the photos..cheers!

Funeral-goers given parking tickets

From The Montreal Gazette

"Mourners vow to fight $42 fines; Cops directed drivers to spots before mass for slain student, ex-city councillor says

While he and more than 800 others attended the funeral mass for Dawson College shooting victim Anastasia De Sousa on Tuesday in east-end Montreal, city parking officials slapped $42 tickets on his and five other cars."

This is an outrage

Click here to send a message to City Hall

Call or Fax them here:

Snail mail them here:

Pass this message on to anyone who was effected by the school shootings and thinks the city should waive these parking tickets!

Vote for TheOneRing.net or KongisKing.net!

This is a real honour for me and my team, The First Annual Movies.com Reader's Poll has nominated both TheOneRing.net and Kongisking.net as one of the best 'Unofficial Movie Sites' of the year.

Both sites are run by my team at The One Ring Inc., I am the editor in chief of both sites, and couldn't be more thrilled. TheOneRing.net (TORN) has been a labour of love for more than 7 years. It was initially setup to follow the movie production of Peter Jackson's 'Lord of the Rings' films. It has since morphed into a community phenomenon with thousands of fans logging in for their daily dose of Tolkien.

All our years of work on TORN did not go unnoticed, Peter Jackson asked us to work on a website for his next film, King Kong, that is how KongisKing.net evolved. It featured one of the first 'video diaries' for a big budget film to be posted online. This has now been copied and imitated throughout the industry, but we did it first!

Head on over to the movies.com poll site and be sure to vote for either of us to win! The results will be posted online soon!

24th Birthday Par-Tay BBQ

My sister-in-law celebrated her 24th birthday last Friday night with a rain-soaked BBQ at night. Despite getting spit on a few times during the night a good time was had by all. We were all a bit curious to see how my father-in-law would react to a party at his place (a new thing for him), but he seemed to have a good time!

Wifey and I were tired and left a bit early, but the party lasted well into the morning...rain included! Click on the image for more pics.

767 Plane Pull!

Click for more images

Today I pulled a plane...

Not something you get to say every day, but I did! Wifey and I attended the 'Defi 767 Challenge', a fundraising event coordinated by the MUC and SQ (police divisions). The challenge was to get a group of 20 people together and see how far and how fast they can pull an Air Canada 767.

We watched a few teams try it out and manage to pull it, when our turn came I was confident we could do it..then we grabbed the rope and tried...didn't move an inch! The organizers figured the plane was on an uneven slope so they pushed it back and let us try it again..we did it! The plane moved, and at a good time too!

There were other things to see and do at the event, we saw some falcons used to clear birds off the runway at the airport, police helicopters and motorcylces, a police dog, firetrucks and more...all in all a fun day! Click on the pics for more.
