Crack The Code...

New Reading:

Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code'

A murder in the silent after-hour halls of the Louvre museum reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected by a clandestine society since the days of Christ. The victim is a high-ranking agent of this ancient society who, in the moments before his death, manages to leave gruesome clues at the scene that only his daughter, noted cryptographer Sophie Neveu, and Robert Langdon, a famed symbologist, can untangle. The duo become both suspects and detectives searching for not only Neveu's father's murderer but also the stunning secret of the ages he was charged to protect. Mere steps ahead of the authorities and the deadly competition, the mystery leads Neveu and Langdon on a breathless flight through France, England, and history itself.

I'm only about 1/8th through the book but I like it already. There is something really intriguing about real secret societies and all that type of illuminati stuff...me likes me likes...

On another note I just caught the final episode of 'Desperate Housewives', this show is reeeealy good and one of my guilty pleasures (I mean it IS just a soap opera, after all). I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet...but...everyone dies..

ok kidding.

Other shows worth wasting time over are the new 'Doctor Who', '24', 'Lost' & 'Family Guy'. The networks released their new fall schedules this week, here are some of the new shows that seem interesting or have great actors.

CLOSE TO HOME: A legal drama that tears away the facade of suburbia to reveal that sometimes quiet and tranquil streets can hide the darkest of crimes. Annabeth Chase is a young, aggressive prosecutor with a perfect conviction record who tries the cases that take place in her own backyard. Returning to work after having her first child, Annabeth is ready to take on the most difficult cases, fueled by her passion to protect her community and her family. Kimberly Elise, Jennifer Finnigan, Christian Kane, John Carroll Lynch and David Starzyk star.

THRESHOLD: From producers David Heyman ("Harry Potter") and David Goyer ("Blade"). A suspenseful drama about a team of experts who are assembled when the U.S. Navy makes a chilling discovery: an extra terrestrial craft has landed in the mid-Atlantic Ocean. Dr. Molly Anne Caffrey is a government contingency analyst whose job is to devise response plans for worst-case scenarios. When her plan called THRESHOLD is activated upon the news of the UFO, she and her hand-picked team of eclectic specialists get to work deciphering the intention of the craft and preparing for the possibility of a crisis situation -- an alien invasion. Robert Patrick Benedict, Charles S. Dutton, Carla Gugino & Brent Spiner star.

THE UNIT: "The Shield" collaborators David Mamet and Shawn Ryan produce this action drama that follows a covert team of special forces operatives as they risk their lives on undercover missions around the globe, while their families maintain the homefront, protecting their husbands' secrets. Dennis Haysbert, Robert Patrick, Scott Foley, Regina King, Amy Acker, Michael Irby, Max Martini, Regina Taylor and Sammi Hanratty star.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: Ted's best friend, Marshall, drops the bombshell that he's going to propose to his long-time girlfriend, Lily, a kindergarten teacher. At that moment, Ted realizes that he had better get a move on if he hopes to find true love, too. Helping him in his quest is Barney, a friend with endless, sometimes outrageous, opinions, a penchant for suits and a fool-proof way to meet women. When Ted meets Robin, he's sure it's love at first sight, but destiny may have something else in store. With voice-over by Bob Saget, the show is told through flashbacks from the future. Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders star.

BONES: Forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan, who works at the Jeffersonian Institution and writes novels as a sideline, has an uncanny ability to read clues left behind in a victim's bones. Consequently, law enforcement calls her in to assist with murder investigations when the remains are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed that the standard identification methods are useless. Brennan's equally brilliant colleagues at the Jeffersonian's Medico-Legal Lab include earthy and bawdy Angela Montenegro, who's created a unique way to render an original crime scene in a three-dimensional computer image; Brennan's assistant, Zack Addy, a young prodigy whose genius IQ actually gets in the way of his finishing the several doctorates he has begun; "the bug guy," Dr. Jack Hodgins, who's an expert on insects, spores and minerals, but conspiracy is his hobby; and Brennan's boss, imposing lab director Dr. Daniel Goodman. Brennan often finds herself teamed with Special Agent Seeley Booth, a former Army sniper who mistrusts science and scientists when it comes to solving crimes. Brennan and Booth clash both professionally and personally, but so far the chemistry between them has only played out in a fictionalized account in Brennan's latest mystery novel. Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, Eric Millegan, TJ Thyne, Michaela Conlin and Jonathan Adams star

KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL: From the creator of "Sex and the City". Chef Jack Bourdain found enormous success at a young age, but his culinary genius also led to a lifestyle of boozing, womanizing and drugs. After hitting rock bottom and deciding to sober up, the only job he could get was slopping soggy pasta for the masses at a tacky opera-themed restaurant. Out of the blue, Jack is offered an opportunity to get back in the game as head chef at a top New York restaurant. There's just one problem: the owner gives Jack a mere 48 hours to fully staff his kitchen and prepare to dazzle over 300 customers - including the food critic for the New York Times (who also happens to be a jilted ex). Jack hastily assembles a renegade crew of colleagues from his past, including chefs Steven, Seth & Teddy. Also along for the ride are Tanya the hostess, a rookie pastry chef named Jim, and the owner's daughter, the gorgeous Mimi, who can't wait for Jack to fail. Bradley Cooper, Bonnie Somerville, Owain Yeoma, Nicholas Brendon, John Cho, Jaime King and John F. Daley star.

FOUR KINGS: The creators of "Will & Grace" handle this show exploring four lifelong friends on the cusp of adulthood who couldn't imagine life without one another. Since childhood, these bosom buddies haven't spent so much as a birthday apart, but when Ben's grandmother, who dubbed them the "Four Kings of New York," passes away, Ben inherits her apartment and decides to share it with his lifelong friends. But despite the comfort of their posh new surroundings and efforts to cling to their youth, adulthood begins drawing these Four Kings knee-deep into situations that aren't always easy to escape in this honest exploration of life-term friendship. Seth Green, Shane McRae, Josh Cooke and Todd Grinnell star.
